Slip-Stitch :: 19

Here's a nice stitch with a 3D texture, that is easy to create. By slipping every other stitch in 2 rows you make welts that have an interesting "bumpy" look. This stitch will decorate any edging. You can also use it as an all-over pattern on a hat, head band or other small accessory.

Yarn shown in this swatch:
Knitca Superwash 100% superwash merino wool, color #4675 Beige

Needles:
4.5mm (US7)

Cast on an odd number of stitches. Add 2 selvage stitches if you want to make a nice-looking edge.

Row 1 (right side): knit all sts
Row 2 (wrong side): purl all sts
Row 3 (right side): [k1, sl 1 wyif], repeat brackets to last st, k1
Row 4 (wrong side): p1, [sl 1 wyib, p1], repeat brackets to end
Row 5 (right side): knit all sts
Row 6 (wrong side): purl all sts

Repeat rows 1-5 as necessary for completing your project.

All abbreviations are explained in the Key to Chart.

You can also work according to the chart below. Pattern repeat is marked by red frame.

Note: the chart depicts stitches in right side rows from right to left (that is, your first stitch in right side row will be the first stitch on the right of the chart), and stitches in wrong side rows from left to right (that is, your first stitch in wrong side row will be the first stitch on the left of the chart). To make this concept easier, the number of each row is shown at the beginning of the row (number 1 is on the right side of the chart and number 2 is on the left side). Ignore this note if you knit in the round, and start all rounds from the right of the chart.
