Colourwork Stitch Pattern

This stitch has an amazingly soft puffy texture and cute colour pattern. It would look great on any baby or kids project, as well as on a scarf, cowl or a blanket.

MATERIALS USED TO MAKE THE SWATCH

Yarn – Knitca Chunky 100% wool yarn in Crimson and Mint colours

Needles – 10 mm (US15)

INSTRUCTIONS

With colour A cast on an even number of stitches. Add 2 selvage stitches if you want to make a nice-looking edge.

Row 1 (right side) Colour B: k1 [k1, sl 1 wyib], repeat brackets to last stitch, k1
Row 2 (wrong side) Colour B: k1, [sl 1 wyif, k1], repeat brackets to last stitch, k1
Row 3 (right side) Colour A: k1 [sl 1 wyib, k1], repeat brackets to last stitch, k1
Row 4 (wrong side) Colour A: k1, [k1, sl 1 wyif], repeat brackets to last stitch, k1

Repeat rows 1-4 as necessary for completing your project.

Note: the chart depicts stitches in right side rows from right to left (that is, your first stitch in right side row will be the first stitch on the right of the chart), and stitches in wrong side rows from left to right (that is, your first stitch in wrong side row will be the first stitch on the left of the chart). To make this concept easier, the number of each row is shown at the beginning of the row (number 1 is on the right side of the chart and number 2 is on the left side).
