Lace Stitch Pattern

This stitch is called “Lover’s knot”, and there is a good reason for such a name – little knots and yarn overs create a simple all-over lace that you immediately fall in love with. The fabric created by this stitch is fully reversible, and looks exactly the same on both sides (as you can tell from the photos below). This makes it perfect for scarves, shawls and wraps.

INSTRUCTIONS

Cast on an odd number of stitches. Add 2 selvage stitches if you want to make a nice-looking edge.

Row 1: k1 [yo, k2tog], repeat brackets to end

Repeat row 1 as necessary for completing your project.

All abbreviations are explained in the Key to Chart.

You can also work according to the chart below. Pattern repeat is marked by red frame.

Note: the chart depicts stitches in right side rows from right to left (that is, your first stitch in right side row will be the first stitch on the right of the chart), and stitches in wrong side rows from left to right (that is, your first stitch in wrong side row will be the first stitch on the left of the chart). To make this concept easier, the number of each row is shown at the beginning of the row (number 1 is on the right side of the chart and number 2 is on the left side).
