As you see from the photos this stitch pattern creates a nice wave that will look especially good on a tunic or even a skirt.

Yarn shown in this swatch:
Knitca Lovely 100% superwash merino yarn, color 1767 Light Pink.

Needles:
US size 6 (4 mm) .

Cast on a multiple of 12 stitches. Add 2 more selvage stitches if you want to make a nice-looking edge.

Row 1 (right side): *purl 1 st, yarn over, SSK, knit 8 sts, purl 1 st*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 2 and every wrong side row: work stitches as they present themselves (all yarn overs should be purled).
Row 3 (right side): *purl 1 st, yarn over, knit 1 st, SSK, knit 7 sts, purl 1 st*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 5 (right side): *purl 1 st, yarn over, knit 2 sts, SSK, knit 6 sts, purl 1 st*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 7 (right side): *purl 1 st, yarn over, knit 3 sts, SSK, knit 5 sts, purl 1 st*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 9 (right side): *purl 1 st, yarn over, knit 4 sts, SSK, knit 4 sts, purl 1 st*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 11 (right side): *purl 1 st, yarn over, knit 5 sts, SSK, knit 3 sts, purl 1 st*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 13 (right side): *purl 1 st, yarn over, knit 6 sts, SSK, knit 2 sts, purl 1 st*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 15 (right side): *purl 1 st, yarn over, knit 7 sts, SSK, knit 1 sts, purl 1 st*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 17 (right side): *purl 1 st, yarn over, knit 8 sts, SSK, purl 1 st*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 19 (right side): *purl 1 st, knit 8 sts, k2tog, yarn over, purl 1 sts*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 21 (right side): *purl 1 st, knit 7 sts, k2tog, knit 1 st, yarn over, purl 1 sts*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 23 (right side): *purl 1 st, knit 6 sts, k2tog, knit 2 sts, yarn over, purl 1 sts*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 25 (right side): *purl 1 st, knit 5 sts, k2tog, knit 3 sts, yarn over, purl 1 sts*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 27 (right side): *purl 1 st, knit 4 sts, k2tog, knit 4 sts, yarn over, purl 1 sts*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 29 (right side): *purl 1 st, knit 3 sts, k2tog, knit 5 sts, yarn over, purl 1 sts*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 31 (right side): *purl 1 st, knit 2 sts, k2tog, knit 6 sts, yarn over, purl 1 sts*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 33 (right side): *purl 1 st, knit 1 sts, k2tog, knit 7 sts, yarn over, purl 1 sts*, repeat from * to * as necessary.
Row 35 (right side): *purl 1 st, k2tog, knit 8 sts, yarn over, purl 1 sts*, repeat from * to * as necessary.

Repeat rows 1-36 as necessary for completing your project.

You can also work according to the chart below. Pattern repeat is marked by red frame.

Note: the chart depicts stitches in right side rows from right to left (that is, your first stitch in right side row will be the first stitch on the right of the chart) and stitches in wrong side row from left to right (that is, your first stitch in wrong side row will be the first stitch on the left of the chart). To make this concept easier the number of each row is shown at the beginning of row (number 1 is on the right side of the chart and number 2 is on the left side). Ignore this note if you knit in circle and start all your rows from the right of the chart.
