Here’s a gorgeous cable stitch that is fully reversible. It looks great on both sides. This makes it perfect choice for all kinds of chunky cowls, snoods and scarves.
MATERIALS USED TO MAKE THE SWATCH
Needles – 4.5 mm (US7)
Cast on a multiple of 12 + 12 stitches. Add 2 selvage stitches if you want to make a nice-looking edge.
Row 1 (right side): [k2, p2, k2], repeat brackets to end
Row 2 and every wrong side row: k the knit sts and p the purl sts
Row 3 (right side): k2, p2, k2, [12 stitches left cable], repeat brackets to last 6 sts, k2, p2, k2
Row 5 (right side): [k2, p2, k2], repeat brackets to end
Row 7 (right side): [12 stitches right cable], repeat brackets to end
Repeat rows 1-8 as necessary for completing your project.
All abbreviations are explained in the Key to Chart.
You can also work according to the chart below. Pattern repeat is marked by red frame.
Note: the chart depicts stitches in right side rows from right to left (that is, your first stitch in right side row will be the first stitch on the right of the chart), and stitches in wrong side rows from left to right (that is, your first stitch in wrong side row will be the first stitch on the left of the chart). To make this concept easier, the number of each row is shown at the beginning of the row (number 1 is on the right side of the chart and number 2 is on the left side).
