Slip-stitch :: 2

This pattern will make an amazing baggy sweater, scarf, top, skirt or dress – that is anything you have in mind except for something really stretchy and close-fitting because as any slip-stich pattern this one creates beautiful texture at the cost of some elasticity.

Yarn shown in this swatch: Knitca Lovely 100% bamboo, color 0264 Lavender.
Needles: US size 6 (4 mm).

Cast on an odd number of stitches.

Row 1 (right side): *make 2 yarn overs (wrap the yarn twice around the needle), knit 1 stitch*, repeat from * to * as necessary.

Row 2 (wrong side): *knit 1 stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn in front of the work (closer to you) and slip 1 yarn over off the needle* (you should have 2 stitches on your right needle now – 1 knitted and 1 slipped stitch), repeat from * to * as necessary.

Row 3 (right side): * slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn at back the work, knit 1 stitch*, repeat from * to * as necessary.

Row 4 (wrong side): *knit 1 stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn in front of the work*, repeat from * to * as necessary.

Row 5 (right side): *knit 1, make 2 yarn overs (wrap the yarn twice around the needle)*, repeat from * to * as necessary.

Row 6 (wrong side): * slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn in front of the work (closer to you) and slip 1 yarn over off the needle* (you should have 2 stitches on your right needle now – 1 knitted and 1 slipped stitch), knit 1 stitch*, repeat from * to * as necessary.

Row 7 (right side): *knit 1 stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn at back the work, repeat from * to * as necessary.

Row 8 (wrong side): * slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn in front of the work*, knit 1 stitch, repeat from * to * as necessary.

Repeat rows 1-8 till necessary for completing your project.

You can also work according to the chart below.

Don’t forget to knit first and last stitch as selvage stitches if you want to make a nice-looking edge.

Note: the chart depicts stitches in right side rows from right to left (that is, your first stitch in right side row will be the first stitch on the right of the chart) and stitches in wrong side row from left to right (that is, your first stitch in wrong side row will be the first stitch on the left of the chart). To make this concept easier for you the number of each row is shown at the beginning of row (number 1 is on the right side of the chart and number 2 is on the left side). Ignore this note if you knit in circle and start all your rows from the right of the chart.
