Knit & Purl :: 5
This pattern is easy and fast to knit. It creates interesting almost 3D texture that can become an accent on any knitted garment.
Yarn shown in this swatch:
Knitca Delight 100% superwash merino wool, color 0468 Camel.
Needles:
US size 6 (4 mm).
Cast on a multiple of 6+1 stitches.
Row 1 (right side): knit across the row
Row 2 (wrong side): p1, *p2, k1, p3, repeat from* to end
Row 3 (right side) : *k2, p3, k1, repeat from* to last st, k1
Row 4 (wrong side) : p1, *k5, p1, repeat from* to end
Row 5 (right side) : purl across the row;
Row 6 (wrong side) : work as row 4;
Row 7 (right side) : work as row 3;
Row 8 (wrong side) : work as row 2.
Repeat rows 1-8 as necessary for completing your project.
Don’t forget to knit first and last stitch as selvage stitches if you want to make a nice-looking edge. Please, note, that chart and written instructions do not include selvage stitches.
You can also work according to the chart below. Pattern repeat is marked by red frame. Yellow color is used on the chart only to make the outline of the diamond motif visible and doesn’t mean the pattern is worked in two colors.
Note: the chart depicts stitches in right side rows from right to left (that is, your first stitch in right side row will be the first stitch on the right of the chart) and stitches in wrong side row from left to right (that is, your first stitch in wrong side row will be the first stitch on the left of the chart). To make this concept easier for you the number of each row is shown at the beginning of row (number 1 is on the right side of the chart and number 2 is on the left side). Ignore this note if you knit in circle and start all your rows from the right of the chart.
